NYCAMH Publishes Agritourism Readiness and Safety Resource Guide
Sept.17, 2026 (FLY CREEK, NY) – Planning to welcome visitors to your farm? NYCAMH’s new Agritourism Readiness & Safety Resource Guide was developed to help farms assess their readiness for agritourism while promoting a safe and positive experience for visitors, employees, and farm families.
Agritourism offers valuable opportunities to connect the public with agriculture, diversify farm income, strengthen rural communities, and increase awareness about where food comes from. However, inviting visitors onto a working farm also introduces unique safety considerations, as many guests may be unfamiliar with common farm hazards.
The resource guide provides practical tips, resources, checklists, and safety considerations to assist farms in evaluating their operations and identifying areas for improvement. Topics include hazard identification, visitor management, emergency preparedness, accessibility considerations, and more. It includes a resource section with links to additional materials to further support your journey into agritourism.
