Farm Walkthrough

Help us get to know you and your operation by inviting us to your farm. Humans can become blind to or complacent about the hazards that we encounter every day. A farm walkthrough is a useful tool in increasing awareness of hazards around the farm and understanding mitigation strategies. Some farms opt to have walkthroughs conducted on a regular schedule to continuously find areas for improvement.

During a typical walkthrough, a farm owner, manager, or farm team meets with a NYCAMH safety specialist. Together, they discuss the operation and walk through the whole farm or the areas where assistance is desired. Depending on the operation size and complexity, walkthroughs typically vary between one to four hours. Our specialist will point out areas where improvements could be made and offer suggestions to mitigate or control the hazard.

The farm receives a report following the walkthrough outlining the suggested actions to improve safety and health. Results are confidential and for the farm’s benefit only.
