2026-27 State Budget Shows Continued Support for Essential NYCAMH Programs
Sept. 3, 2026 (FLY CREEK, NY) – The agricultural community and the New York Center for Agricultural Medicine and Health (NYCAMH) has significant reason to celebrate following the enactment of New York State’s 2026–2027 budget. NYCAMH emerged in a strong position to continue our mission of protecting and promoting the health and safety rural and agricultural workers. The budget’s support for programs that strengthen agricultural sustainability in our state reflects a growing recognition of the vital role that farm safety, occupational health services, and injury prevention play in New York’s agricultural economy and workers’ wellbeing.
Continued investment in these priorities helps ensure that our team at NYCAMH can maintain services such as the John May Farm Safety Fund, the National ROPS Rebate Program, occupational health screenings, safety training, mental health resources, respiratory protection programs, injury prevention initiatives, and more. It also allows us to address existing gaps among programs that reach farms throughout the state.
This positive budget outcome is the result of strong partnerships and persistent support from agricultural organizations, policymakers, and community stakeholders who understand the unique challenges facing New York’s farming families. We’d like to especially recognize our partners in the agricultural community, including but not limited to, the New York Farm Bureau, Northeast Dairy Producers Association, Northeast Organic Farming Association of New York, Empire State Forest Products Association, New York Beef Producers Association, New York Berry Growers Association, New York Holstein Association, and the New York State Horticultural Society. Their collective efforts helped reinforce the importance of supporting resources that directly benefit the agricultural workforce and the rural communities they support.
As we look ahead, this funding positions NYCAMH to continue delivering high-quality, professional services while responding to emerging needs in NY agriculture. We are grateful for the support of Governor Hochul, Agricultural Chairs Senator Hinchey and Assemblywoman Lupardo, Health Chairs Senator Rivera and Assemblywoman Paulin, Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins, Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie, our agricultural partners, and our many advocates whose commitment to farm health and safety makes this important work possible.
